I always forget that tall, heavy vehicles with articulating solid axles is a pain in the butt.

Jacks don't go tall enough to overcome the axle articulation to lift wheels off the ground

you can jack under the axle but you can't get strong enough jack stands that are short enough to support the axle

when you have only one jack and you remove it from the axle to go lift the other axle the axle you just removed from drops and you can't get a wheel back on

good thing I had a Hi-Lift...which you shouldn't use alone like this but I did...so I could get the frame high enough.

an oil change, knuckle grease and 5 tire rotation took 3 hard labor hours. did I mention it was 8 degrees?

man alive!

Also, I discovered I need new rear brakes and rotors...which also have drums, that's going to be expensive.

The Rover's springs, being leaf under the axle, make for having more than one place to hit with a jack or jackstand - if you don't mind being a tad sketchy. Grab the spring near the axle, lift high enough to get a stand under the axle plate, and go.

OTOH, if you don't have lift-ready rockers, a Hi-Lift is near useless without trashing the bodywork, anywhere but the front bumper and rear crossmember.

Hey there. I looked at a 2000 LX470 a few days ago. It had about 175k miles on it. There was a little rust on the underbody, and a little bubbling on the trunk. There were plenty of scrapes and nicks on the body itself. The antenna and the cd player were also broken. In terms of Edmunds condition descriptions, I would say it was a average. Maybe a little lower.

The truck itself ran amazing. It drove like it was new. It is a private party asking 7500. What would be a good price?

7500 is a pretty good price if its mechanically sound and you don't mind the cosmetic blemishes. Check to see if the big three have been maintained:

1. timing belt

2. cooling system (with Toyota red)

3. Transmission serviced.

The first has been done, the last two have not. What am I looking at. Because Edmunds prices the car at around 5k which is too low. I was hoping to settle at somewhere around 6500.

6500 sounds fair. if the coolant system hasn't been maintained there is a good change it will require work. The trans is solid and can handle some neglect but a good pan off change is in order.
